Announcing Seagull Enterprises cradle-to-cradle program. Seagull Enterprises has joined with Shaw, America's leading carpet manufacturer, to offer revolutionary new products that represent a revolutionary way of doing business. It's called cradle-to-cradle and it's a new approach to the way we do things. It's about doing something that's incredibly good... creating high-quality products that sacrifice nothing, and actually benefits our customers and the environment.
Here's How It Works. Until today, the carpet you replace gets thrown into a landfill or recycled into lower-value products. In fact, it's estimated that the average multi-family property puts an average of 10,000 to 15,000 pounds of used carpet in landfills every year! It's terribly inefficient. With cradle-to-cradle, we partner with Shaw to collect the carpet instead of sending it to a landfill. Shaw has invested in a one-of-a-kind facility in Augusta, Georgia which will allow post consumer carpet to be recycled back into carpet of equal or greater quality. That means it has a virtually infinite life span.
That alone is pretty powerful reason to partner with Seagull Enterprises, but there's another. We recycle the padding as well. The old pad is sent back to the manufacturer, ground up, cleaned and sanitized, and re-mixed into new foam padding. The pad manufacturers do not require us to participate, and most of our competition doesn't, but we DO!
